Extracting Knowledge from Complex Data
In partnership with GIZ and local stakeholders in Zambia’s Luapula province, D^2 held a series of trainings on data governance for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives. Through our Data Launch Pad programme, we collaborated with local partners on the sustainable management and use of data to inform infrastructure investment and planning.
Luapula’s digital mWater platform served as a basis for the workshops, providing local partners with a familiar data ecosystem to introduce data governance concepts and establish a system of best practices.
Utilising the mWater platform, representatives from local councils, utility providers, and health and education bodies were trained in:
- Fundamental data governance concepts, roles and practices
- Exploring available data on the mWater platform
- Reviewing ways to integrate mWater into their workflows
- Managing baseline data accessibility and further uptake/use
